The Zoo

When I was a little girl, I always wanted to work with animals. I didn't know there was life beyond horseback riding, and dreamed of being a vetrinarian. I remember catching snakes and lizards and little birds when we lived in Washington state.

However, in growing up, at some point I "put away childish things" and as living the free single apartment life was not conducive to pets, I became very happy with my goldfish, Marvin. When we bought our house early this year, Brent felt it wasn't complete without a cat. We adopted a beautiful homeless tabby, who we named Tabitha.

I liked her for 1) she
was an outdoor cat (ie. no hair on my clothes) 2) she was independent (she'd been homeless for at least a year, so I figured she didn't require a lot of attention) and 3) she was short haired, and didn't seem to shed much.

Within 6 months, she has decided that she is an indoor cat who DOES shed and she is the most loving and attention-requiring cat that I have ever experienced.
We also are currently enjoying the company of a fairly needy little shizu-poodle, Teddy, while my mom is on a mission.  Brent says Teddy is co-dependent. He definitely isn't happy unless he is sitting on top of you.

At the same time, we are babysitting our friends beautiful and sweet kitty while they're out of town for Christmas.
Sometimes, it just seems like a lot of animals for one house!

P.S. Tabby is NOT trying to eat Marvin in this picture! She drinks out of his tank, and he swims up and kisses her. They all get along quite well.

Blog Anniversary

Welcome family and friends. We've been married 3 years now and felt that it was long past time to get on the blog-wagon and we are committed to (semi) regular postings. Wish us luck! (and Happy Anniversary)
